How to set up the Post Checkout Invitation to convert your customers into affiliates


This article is focused on the usage of this feature on Shopify. This functionality is indeed available on the other supported platforms but the setup process varies.

If you are using another platform, you have to check option "Post Checkout Popup". The rest of the details will be available on a separate article soon.


Post checkout invitation is a feature we've had in the past but we reworked to help you better to sign up affiliates as we understand this is one of the biggest struggles people have when getting started with their affiliate marketing program.

This is an incredibly powerful tool that aims to convert into affiliates the best possible prospects: your customers!

Who else aside of you knows better your product/service? Who else has a more authentic statement valuation to make? This is why post checkout invitation has been the star and main feature of some competitors they only offer it for much bigger fees and bigger tiers. But here, in Affiliatly, we bring it to you on all plans to confirm our commitment to give you the best of us to help you grow.


Configuring the post checkout invitation


To configure this feature, you can just use the quick search bar we built for you. If you type "Checkout" and click on it, you will enter to the feature's settings directly.




You can also navigate to these settings by going from your Dashboard -> Settings -> General -> Post Checkout Invitation


Once you get there you will see an important note about the registrations you get from this functionality:

Note: Accounts created this way will appear as temporary (shown with pink background in page Affiliates) and don't count towards your plan limit. Only after they refer at least 2 orders or 5 visits their account status will switch to normal.

This will allow you to differentiate the affiliates that were signed up this way to help having a much better perspective of the performance and success of you're having through this recruitment strategy.



Let's go over the checkboxes:


  • Enable

    Activates this feature allowing the invitation to show up on your store.


  • Auto approve new affiliates

    Let them start promoting your store immediately by auto approving new registrations. This option only affects your customers. Meaning that if you don't have auto approved enabled in general settings the people that register normally to your affiliate program would still need to be reviewed and approved by you.


  • Allow signups with private registration

    Lets your customers sign-up even though your registration page is set to private. If not checked your customers won’t be able to register unless you provide them with your private sign-up page URL.

Always remember to click on the Preview Changes button after finishing making changes on the style to confirm the result is like you desired.

Once you're satisfied with the results on the preview and are ready to generate the invitation element click on Save changes



Adding the invitation to your Thank You page


You need to go to the admin panel of your Shopify store and enter to Settings > Checkout > Configurations

This is the section where you can "Customize Checkout, Thank you, and Order status pages". So click on the "Customize" button.

If you're feeling cautious, you can also click on "Duplicate" to create a backup just in case and then customize one of the version with the following instructions of this guide.



So once inside you will enter by default to edit the informational page. You need to click on the top dropdown to switch to the "Thank you" page customization.




Next, on the left sidebar panel, click on "Apps"



Next, click on the plus button and confirm that you're adding it to your "Thank you" page



Once you add it and click on "Save" on the top right, the invitation as you styled it and configured it will appear on the Thank You page after the purchase is done.

When you make a test purchase the result should look similar this:
